OBJECTIVES
The overall goal of this course is to prepare you for basic
speech/ presentation skills.
The expected outcome is that students who complete this course
will gain knowledge,
confidence and effectiveness in the following specific areas of
speech and communication:
--The Physical Message (ex. Posture and Eye contact)
--The Visual Message (ex. Using effective visuals)
--The Story Message (ex. The Introduction, The Body,
The Conclusion)
--making communication interesting
--Discussing topics from real-life
--Building rapport with people (relationship)
--Encouraging classroom participation
--Cultivate a sense of Humor
--Interactive techniques

About the Course
In this fast-paced course we will discuss a great range of
modern and contemporary issues.
Aside from providing discussion topics, this course offers
a way of understanding general cultural differences.
You are required to work on different projects of oral
presentation.
This course might provide opportunities of gaining global
perspectives through looking into various issues and problems.
Participants do not need to have any prior knowledge of speech
act. Youtube films are often used in this course.
Some tasks might require collaborative close readings led by
the instructor. Critical thinking skills are the main focus of
this course.
